More From the ‘Religion of Peace’

From Fox News :

Puppet Show From Hamas TV Shows Child Stabbing Bush

A children’s puppet show featured on Hamas TV shows a child stabbing President Bush to death.

“Who are you to come here and threaten me?” Bush says in the puppet show video. “You are on my own turf, you little child, you. Get out.”

The child tells Bush that he killed his father in the Iraq war, which made him an orphan.

“I have come to take revenge with this sword — revenge for my mother and my sisters,” the child puppet says. “You are a criminal, Bush.”

“I will kill you, Bush, because that is your fate,” the child says before stabbing Bush repeatedly.

The show aired on Al-Aqsa TV on March 30.

As Flynn says in the Fitna post below: “[ Fitna suggests that] Islam is not a peaceful religion hijacked by extremists, but an extremist religion that has hijacked otherwise peaceful people.”

And the way they are indoctrinating their children, we’ll be dealing with the bloody aftermath for generations to come.

What Am I Missing Here?

Tag: global war on terror, news and politicsSteve @ 08:51 am

Hmmm, a bomb, a stolen car, Iraqi currency.  Could it be … terrorism?  Nope?  Okay, just checking.  From KOB in New Mexico, by way of Jihad Watch :

Bomb, Iraqi currency lure FBI into stolen-car case

The FBI is now involved in the theft of a car after it was found in Los Lunas [New Mexico] with an explosive device and Iraqi currency inside.  FBI agents say that they have ruled out terrorism.

The car was reported stolen last week. After the theft, the car’s owner was fueling his motorcycle when he spotted his stolen car.

“While he was refueling his motorcycle, low and behold, the vehicle that he had reported stolen that belongs to him happened to pull into the gas station area also,” said Los Lunas Police Captain Charles Nuanes.

The car’s owner pulled the keys out of the ignition of his stolen car and the people in the car fled.

When police arrived, they found the explosive device and less than $1,000 worth of Iraqi cash.

“We don’t know what their intentions were,” said Nuanes. “We don’t know what they were planning on doing with any of this.”

Police suspect Toby Jaramillo, who is well known to Valencia County law enforcement, was behind the car’s theft. He’s in jail charged with stealing another car.

Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, blows up innocent people like a duck.  According to the FBI, it’s not a duck.

Coming Soon to Europe: More Enraged Muslims

Tag: global war on terror, religionSteve @ 08:04 am

UPDATE: LiveLeak video service banned download of Fitna because of death threats to its employees, presumably from adherents of the ‘religion of peace.’ You can download it here via Torrent.

Flynn Files posts this about the release of Dutch conservative Geert Wilders’ film Fitna .  Fitna deals with the reality of the Islamic threat to Europe, and by extension, to the rest of the world.  And if the Islamic cartoon debacle was any indication - and it probably is - death threats will fly and Europe will soon be in flames, thanks to the ‘religion of peace’.

Music by Tchaikovsky, ugly visuals supplied by Islamic terrorists, a script straight from the Koran, Fitna is horrifying and graphic. Please do yourself a favor and don’t watch, if you (as I am) are appalled by unpleasant images of gruesome deaths. It is, as the moving music and too-grisly images suggest, propaganda. But propaganda is not necessarily false.

It’s theme suggests that Islam is not a peaceful religion hijacked by extremists, but an extremist religion that has hijacked otherwise peaceful people. It supports this thesis with copious quotes from the Koran, a book I have not read in its entirety. Thus, I can’t attest to whether the quotes accurately reflect the spirit of Islam, or whether they, like mined quotes from the Old Testament, distort the overall message of the religion.

A second theme seems to be whether tolerance of intolerance is actually the enemy of tolerance. Allowing hordes of Mulsims to invade the Netherlands has led to assassinations, death threats, violence, and the loss of what made the Netherlands the Netherlands. Don’t let this movie come to a country near you is the explicit warning. Is Fitna an alarm bell signaling Europe to “wake up” or the cinematic chronicling of how Europe slept as an intruder murdered it? This is a debatable point, which in itself is amazing given the death threats and censorship the mere idea of this fifteen-minute film unleashed. While the merits of the film are thankfully up for debate, the filmmaker’s courage is not.

You can also see it at Jihad Watch . [UPDATE: The JihadWatch link now goes to the LiveLeak statement explaining why they banned the video.]

Arguing About Stars

Tag: faith, science, spaceSteve @ 13:38 pm
“Like all sciences, astronomy advances most rapidly when confronted with exceptions to its theories…”   ( An Introduction to Modern Astrophysics, Bradley Carroll & Dale Ostlie)

“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”  ( Psalm 33:6, NIV )

Contemporary thought in astronomy and cosmology says that stars start life as clouds of dust in the vast emptiness of space.  These clouds are compressed through collisions or by blast waves from supernovae and may eventually condense into one or more stars.  Stars then go through a multi-billion year lifecycle:

Most stars, including the sun, are “main sequence stars,” fueled by nuclear fusion converting hydrogen into helium. For these stars, the hotter they are, the brighter. These stars are in the most stable part of their existence; this stage generally lasts for about 5 billion years.

As stars begin to die, they become giants and supergiants (above the main sequence). These stars have depleted their hydrogen supply and are very old. The core contracts as the outer layers expand. These stars will eventually explode (becoming a planetary nebula or supernova, depending on their mass) and then become white dwarfs, neutron stars, or black holes (again depending on their mass ).

Smaller stars (like our Sun) eventually become faint white dwarfs (hot, white, dim stars) that are below the main sequence. These hot, shrinking stars have depleted their nuclear fuels and will eventually become cold, dark, black dwarfs.

HR diagram [This obviously presupposes that God is nowhere in sight, and has no hand in stellar creative activities.]  So color and luminosity are generally linked to a star’s temperature, as shown in the “H-R Diagram” to right.  Or so most astronomers believe.

Since the color of a heated body depends on temperature, the different classes take on different, though subtle, colors, from slightly reddish for class M to orange for K, through yellow- white to bluish for classes B and O. Star colors can be noted rather easily even with the unaided eye, especially when those close together contrast against each other. Stars of classes L and T, none of which are visible to the naked eye, range from red through deep red to “infrared” (these optically invisible under any circumstances).

Not necessarily so, some would argue.

There are a group of astronomers, astrophysicists and cosmologists who hold to the Electric Universe theory, which contends that electrical charges acting in space offer a better explanation for ‘The Way Things Are’ in space.

There are stars that violate the standard model of stellar evolution. Stars that are too cool and too small for atomic fusion to take place in their cores have caused astronomical researchers to scramble for explanations. Since stars are supposed to have a mass of at least 75 times that of Jupiter for fusion reactions to occur, another speculative mechanism for what powers them has been suggested: gravitational collapse. In other words, gravity is pulling the cold, dark star into greater compaction, which must be what is creating the additional heat and x-ray emissions.

“In the ES [Electric Star] model, perhaps the most important factor in determining any given star’s characteristics is the strength of the current density in Amperes per square meter (A/m2) measured at that star’s surface. If a star’s incoming current density increases, the arc discharges on its surface (photospheric tufts) will get hotter, change color (away from red, toward blue), and get brighter. The absolute brightness of a star, therefore, depends on two things: the strength of the current density impinging into its surface, and the star’s size (the star’s diameter). Therefore, we add another scale to the horizontal axis of the HR diagram: Current Density at the Star’s Surface.”

The really interesting bit is that NASA and the established space community want nothing to do with such a view of the cosmos.  That’s not surprising, because the folks at Thunderbolts , one of the primary Electric Universe web sites, describe their theory this way:

Electric Universe [challenges] “the myths of ‘Big Bang’ cosmology, and does so without resorting to black holes, dark matter, dark energy, neutron stars, magnetic ‘reconnection,’ or any other fictions needed to prop up a failed theory.

To NASA and much of academia, such a view seems to be as dangerous an idea as a loving God who “determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.”

The earth, the stars and all of Creation provide a general revelation of the nature and hand of God.  The more we learn in any field of scientific observation, the more we see His hand in everything.  We can argue about the specifics of the pieces, and how they all fit together, but we can’t escape the growing evidence that the hand of God was and is behind it all.

“You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”  ( Nehemiah 9:6, NIV )

Looking for Earth-Friendly Meat? Eat Whale

Tag: global whining, news and politicsSteve @ 13:44 pm

Mmmm, that's good whale! The Norwegians have come up with a way to support their economy and their whaling industry while poking a finger in the eye of the global warmening crowd.

OSLO (Reuters) - Eat a whale and save the planet, a Norwegian pro-whaling lobby said on Monday of a study showing that harpooning the giant mammals is less damaging to the climate than farming livestock.

Environmental group Greenpeace dismissed the survey, saying almost every kind of food was more climate friendly than meat.

By definition, you can dismiss the Greenpeace dismissal.  They oppose any form of whaling, fishing, or economic progress.  In the Antarctic, Greenpeace terrorists have repeated harassed Japanese whalers with chemical weapons .

The [Norwegian] survey, focused on whale boats’ fuel use, showed that a kilo (2.2 lbs) of whale meat represented just 1.9 kilo (4.2 lbs) of greenhouse gases against 15.8 for beef, 6.4 for pork and 4.6 for chicken.

“Basically it turns out that the best thing you can do for the planet is to eat whale meat compared to other types of meat,” said Rune Froevik of the High North Alliance, which represents the interests of coastal communities in the Arctic.

“Greenhouse gas emissions caused by one meal of beef are the equivalent of eight meals of whale meat,” the study said.

I think our responsibility is clear: whale burgers, anyone?  It’s for the planet!

Slate Gets Easter, Pretty Much

Tag: faithSteve @ 10:17 am

Slate.com , never known for being particularly conservative, has a great article on the non-commercialization of Easter.  The link to the full story is here , but here’s the meat of it - Easter deals with hard, un-evadable questions.  Is Jesus who He said He is?  How does the world respond to a man who claimed to be God, and who was resurrected?  Here’s a taste:

Even the resurrection, the joyful end of the Easter story, resists domestication as it resists banalization. Unlike Christmas, it also resists a noncommittal response. Even agnostics and atheists who don’t accept Christ’s divinity can accept the general outlines of the Christmas story with little danger to their worldview. But Easter demands a response. It’s hard for a non-Christian believer to say, “Yes, I believe that Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, died, was buried, and rose from the dead.” That’s not something you can believe without some serious ramifications: If you believe that Jesus rose from the dead, this has profound implications for your spiritual and religious life—really, for your whole life. If you believe the story, then you believe that Jesus is God, or at least God’s son. What he says about the world and the way we live in that world then has a real claim on you.

Easter is an event that demands a “yes” or a “no.” There is no “whatever.”

What does the world do with a person who has been raised from the dead? Christians have been meditating on that for two millenniums. But despite the eggs, the baskets, and the bunnies, one thing we haven’t been able to do is to tame that person, tame his message, and, moreover, tame what happened to him in Jerusalem all those years ago. That’s one reason why you don’t see many Easter cards, Easter gifts, and Easter decorations; why the stores aren’t clogged with shoppers during Lent; and why the holiday is still, essentially, religious.

Amen and amen.  To my view, the most important question in Scripture was Christ’s query to Peter, “Who do you say that I am?”  ( Matt 16:15-17 )  Peter got it right.  Slate at least recognizes the question.

It’s Time to Smack China

Tag: news and politicsSteve @ 08:42 am

I know the US is not the world’s policeman, but it’s time to do something - anything - about China’s brutalization of Tibet.  I think it’s time for a stern letter from a UN subcommittee.  France has gone all out and called for a boycott of the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Beijing.  Oooh.  I bet the Chicoms are quaking in their hobnailed boots over that one.

The Heavens Declare

Tag: faith, science, spaceSteve @ 14:51 pm

NGC-6357_Pismis24 As a long-time space geek, I have always been amazed by the beauty and majesty of the heavens.  The Hubble Space Telescope and other space media sources pour forth incredible image after incredible image.  But that’s not the only thing that pours forth.  Psalm 19 says this:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun.”  ( Psalm 19:1-4a, NIV )

Everything that is seen and unseen reveals the hand of God.  All you have to do is look up.  Then again, even if you want to put your head in the sand, you’ll find Him there, too.

With that in mind, I’ve added a page dedicated to the hand of God as revealed in space imagery .
