9-11

Category: 9-11, faithSteve @ 11:27 am

Where were you on that day?  I was driving to work after dropping the boys at school.  My wife called to say that a plane had crashed into a building in New York.  I flipped on the news and listened to the horrific details.  By the time I reached the gate at work the second plane had impacted the other tower.  Details of the hijackings came out.  The Pentagon was hit.  Madness.  We watched and listened that day and the next and the next as more details came to light.  Rescues from the wreckage of the Towers and then just bodies.

I’m still shaken by those events and I hope I never lose that capacity to weep for those who were lost and for those who lost loved loved ones.  I feel anger as, even today, ‘truthers’ claim that it was an inside job, that BushCo staged the whole scenario to launch a war or to grab the oil or to make a few bucks.  What calloused hearts those people have.

9-11 was not the judgment of God on a sinful nation or ‘the just desserts of a prideful nation’.  But it shows me that we do live in a fallen, sinful world where people shake their fists at God and mock His name.  We are allowed to live with the consequences of that rejection of God.  9-11 was just a symptom of that rejection.
