And More Bad News for Republicans

Category: news and politicsSteve @ 10:52 am

The party is hemorrhaging and is looking desperately for a clue.  Bob Barr is looking more appealing by the day.  Here are two related articles from Real Clear Politics (one of the best political blogs around, on either side) that speak to the party’s woes:

GOP Stunned By Loss in Mississippi (May 14 2008)

House GOP Shifts Into Panic Mode (May 9 2008)

And some folks are just delusional:   McCain Seen as Cure for House Republicans (Washington Times, May 14)

Where is the party of Reagan when you need them?

    Steve,
Do you sense that our cultral situation is beyond the realm of anything we can do to change it? I sense a stage being set that seems out of our hands to control? Am I making any sense here?

Do you mean, is this a prelude to the end times? No, Peter wrote 2000 years ago that we were in the end times. My point was that for this election the Dems seem to have it locked up because the Republicans can’t or won’t field a genuine conservative. We get the government we deserve.

From a faith perspective, all is not lost because I read the end of the book. I know who is in charge and who wins in the end.

There is a very fine line. It can be hard to divorce faith and politics, but we need to do it. Yet we are called to be salt and light wherever we are, even in the political arena. If we see candidates or ideas which are opposed to God’s will, it is our responsibility to counter them. That’s not the same thing as establishing a ‘Christian Right’ as a political party.
