I Do Believe; Help My Unbelief

Category: faithSteve @ 14:44 pm

Dan Edelen at Cerulean Sanctum is wrestling, like many of us seem to be, with faith in a post-evangelical, entertainment-driven church type of world.  We long for the fulfillment of Scriptural promises.  Dan points to this passage…

And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
—Isaiah 58:11

…and asks if it’s still for him.  He looks to the church, glorying in its 40 days of purpose, and asks why it’s spiritually dead.  Where has the spirit - and the Spirit - of the church gone?  Where has our hunger to fulfill the Great Commission gone?  And like the father of the demoniac child Jesus healed, Dan cries, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

I’m not Dan and I don’t know his circumstances, but I share his cry to the Lord.  What’s happened to Christ’s church?
