Sarah Palin for President

Category: news and politicsSteve @ 08:34 am

Governor Sarah PalinAlaska governor Sarah Palin definitely has her priorities in order.  She recently gave birth to a son, Trig Paxson Palin, who she knew early in her pregnancy would suffer from Downs Syndrome.

Over a month ago, her office announced that the 44-year-old and her husband, Todd, were expecting their fifth child in May. It was a secret the beguiling brunette, a runner, managed to keep from even her staff.

Then, April 18, she surprised us again by giving birth a month early to Trig Palin, 6 pounds, 2 ounces. In true Sarah fashion, her amniotic fluid leaked in Texas, she gave a speech at a Republican Governors Association convention as scheduled anyway, and then returned to Alaska to deliver.

Immediately the family made this announcement: “Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives.”

“We’ve both been very vocal about being pro-life,” Palin said. “We understand that every innocent life has wonderful potential.”

As if that wasn’t enough, she has directed the Alaska State Attorney General to sue the federal government to prevent the listing of polar bears as a threatened species.  Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne listed the species in response to pressure from the global warming crowd and enviro groups that seek to stop oil development at any cost.  Polar bear populations have soared in recent years, so Kempthorne’s decision is doubly ludicrous.

From a FoxNews piece:

[Governor Palin] and other Alaska elected officials fear a listing will cripple oil and gas development in prime polar bear habitat off the state’s northern and northwestern coasts.

Palin argued that there is not enough evidence to support a listing. Polar bears are well-managed and their population has dramatically increased over 30 years as a result of conservation, she said.

Climate models that predict continued loss of sea ice, the main habitat of polar bears, during summers are unreliable, said Palin, a Republican.

I hear John McCain is looking for a running mate, but I think Gov Palin’s integrity and sense of duty to her family and her country would overshadow McCain.

Doesn’t sound like an “open mind”, Jamie. 8 years of crap? Remember that it was Bill Clinton who created this financial mess (look up “Community Reinvestment Act” which Carter created and Clinton turned into the poor-lending-practices beast it is today) and GWB who tried to fix it on two different occasions.

Keep in mind that many of us are *still* glad it was Bush in the White House when 9/11 happened, glad it was Bush who went for the surge in the face of opposition, heck I’m glad it was Bush who finally brought down Hussein. Remember that guy, who wouldn’t let UN inspectors in to verify his lack of weapons? Remember Russia and France siding against us in the UN (oh, yeah, they had HUGE illegal deals with Iraq for oil…).

I’m amazed at how quickly the typical American forgets what got us here…and the RIGHT things that happened in the face of adversity.

It’s amazing how many people go with their emotions, rather than logic. All I can ask is that PEOPLE Please keep an open mind on both sides and listen to what each side wants to change and how that change will affect YOUR situation. Please don’t just base your opinions on gender, religion, or “the under dog” feeling. Listen to the real facts and make your own EDUCATED decision. Remember the warm and fuzzy’s most people felt about George W about 8 years ago, how do you feel now? Blind Faith already got us 8 years of crap. People that are still hung up on emotions, try sleeping through the elections and stay away from the Ballet Box. Lastly, Elliott please hop in your 1982 Pacer, go find E.T. and fly off to another planet, where you belong and take that commodore 64 with you.

Palin for president!! Even if she does get elected VP McCain is not expected to make it much longer, I’ve been reading the dems comments – none of them give him more than a few months.

Now seriously, how can someone support Obama and call themselves a believer in Jesus Christ unless you are not paying attention. He has associated himself with people of bad character time and time again. He is ok with people killing babies, unborn and born. He has spent most of his time as senator running for president and most of his time prior to that doing what? When he is in the senate he votes “present” instead of actually voting yes or no. How does this make him qualified to run the country?

I am not impessed with McCain much either. I do respect his service to our country. But he seems more intent on reaching his goal then worry about how he gets there. His best move so far was choosing Palin for his VP. My hope is that even if she never gets into office that we see more canidates like her in the years to come in all offices. I don’t care that she is a woman. I care that she has good character.

For those of you worrying about how she will raise her children, she is married you know and believe it or not men can change dipers, buy groceries, clean the house and still attend to thier childerns daily needs. It also sounds like they can afford to hire someone to do many of those tasks, not that a nanny can take the place of a loving parent but anyone can buy the groceries.

I heard people putting her down for having a child at her age, maybe it wasn’t so much her choice but Gods. Just because it wasn’t planned or isn’t perfect doesn’t make it any less of a gift from God.

It amazes me each time that the dems and rebulicans choose their canidates that they can’t find anyone better. We live in an amazing country with so many wonderful people and they give us McCain and Obama. I just don’t get it.

Palin would make a wonderful President. If we could get rid of McCain we would have no trouble winning the election.

  5. Steve says:

    Alex,
Thanks for your comment, but you’re wrong on just about every level. Basic economics (do they still teach that today?) pretty clearly shows that if citizens keep more money from their paychecks (i.e., through lower taxes) they will spend most of it, putting it into circulation to strengthen the economy. More money in circulation translates to lower prices and more jobs. Bill Clinton inherited a vigorous economy from Ronald Reagan and Bush 41, but squandered it. The Republican congress elected in 1994 figured out they could spend like drunken sailors [apologies to drunken sailors everywhere] and things went from bad to worse.

Only a ignorant selfish republican would not realize that by cutting taxes your not saving that much money if any in the first place.(this applies to those of us who make less than 250,000 a year) and your sacrificing the governments ability to help with healthcare, jobs, defense, education ,etc etc etc.

That’s the point – it’s not government’s job to provide blanket entitlements. Cut taxes, cut entitlements – everybody wins. What happened in the late 80’s and early 90s when states and municipalities moved to slash welfare rolls? The world didn’t end. In fact, people got jobs to support themselves and their families, and economies improved.

What they don’t under stand is Obama what’s to take from the Rich and Create programs that benefit both the poor and the middle class

I think what you’re saying is a justification of the Robin Hood ‘rob from the rich and give to the poor’ mentality. Welfare socialism has never worked and has only served to make itself larger and people more dependent. Have you ever actually read the Robin Hood stories? What actually would have happened is that RH’s men would quickly figure out that they could off Robin Hood and keep the money. The rich get poorer (or leave), the poor get poorer and bandits flourish. Welcome to the world of government entitlements.

  6. alex says:

I sadly regret that most people who follow the Republican Party are ignorant of what is actually going on in this country. I imagine the majority of you people spend most of your free time in front of the television. I do not claim a party but I do spend time listening to both candidates and what it is that is actually coming out of their mouths. John McCain wants to cut taxes. He thinks the American people should have a choice of how they spend their money. Well so did George W Bush. And he did. He gave back the American people a quarter of the surplus by cutting taxes as well as stimulus checks. Whoa WHOOOOO!!!! Only a ignorant selfish republican would not realize that by cutting taxes your not saving that much money if any in the first place.(this applies to those of us who make less than 250,000 a year) and your sacrificing the governments ability to help with healthcare, jobs, defense, education ,etc etc etc.. Do you realize that tax cuts weaken our country? Did anyone think the 90’s were a great time? Not only has the cutting of taxes weakened the American Dollar but it has taken away from many government programs that help the average American.( what I mean by average American is the people not making over $250,0000 a year) the other 99% of us. It kind of works the same as gas, the more gas we have the lesser the value, the less gas we have the higher the value. For the somewhat intelligent it’s called supply and demand. Did we learn anything in the last eight years? Ok the Obama side of things. Obama wants change, this is pretty obvious. The republican people think Obama wants to raise taxes well guess what they got this one right. What they don’t under stand is Obama what’s to take from the Rich and Create programs that benefit both the poor and the middle class to help them handle things such as wait for it, energy, education, healthcare, housing. Those of you still with me you may be learning some thing. OK lastly PALIN was only chosen because the Republican Party knows that she is their only hope of winning this thing. Republican people only listen to key words and do not listen to what’s actually going on. They also like Visuals. McCain is old and PALIN is young and sexy and sex sells, tax cuts sound awesome because you actually think your getting more money in your pocket(your not look at the last eight years), And God forbid this country look like pussys to the rest of the world. HA ha ok I’m done I wish you people would actually analyze what these people are actually telling you. Do yourself a favor study George Bush and Al Gores Debates, Then tell me were you think this country would be if you had only listened to the actual words.

Brian I totally agree with you. My money and donations go to my church/community. We bring gifts and food to the organizations in need. The way I grew up in the heartland is that community took care of community -not government. I would much rather pay the extra money that I have each month to people that I see in need. I don’t want someone taxing me and blanketly supporting those who may be working the system. The elitist crowd that thinks that government welfare programs will automatically find its way to the people who have worked hard all their life but sudden fallen on hard times live in a fantasy land. I know a girl who had 3 kids that the state took away only for her mother to adopt them through foster care and now she gets $ to raise her own grandkids. The grandmother then made sure each of the kids were diagnosed with various issues (ADD,mental health, etc.) coaching them before being assessed so she could get more money each month from the state. Her daughter who spawned these 3 little kids has been in/out of jail since she was 16. She’s 27 now, has had 4 children and is not raising a one. The last child is being raised by her paternal grandmother who doesn’t ask for any government money even though living solely on social security. There are definitely those getting government help that really need it and don’t abuse it but how are we to know who they are unless we personally give it to them. The government programs need to be reassessed to prevent the abuse that is taking place and make it harder for people to manipulating the system. How is the party promoting social welfare programs so loudly going to do that??? How is LARGER government going to help the people who do work and pay taxes? How is the corruption in these programs going to be addresses. The unfairness of it is seen by those scraping by working 2 jobs paying taxes and getting laid off by companies who will have to pay more taxes under their plan just so someone can “work” the system instead of working their “asses” off the couch and to a job each day.

Weak, Louise. Jesus did not call for us to put together a faceless government to take care of the needy, He called for US to take care of it. As a Republican, I want to use an *efficient* mechanism to get the *most* to those people, and that is going through churches and charities where 85%+ goes straight to the needs, not through the faceless, soulless government where 10% goes to the needy. A government that gives to the downtrodden just enough to KEEP them there is of no value, whereas a single person who can give to someone and LIFT THEM UP is truly doing God’s work.

The change you will vote for is the very change that strips the humanity from the giving and the Spirit from the community. I don’t need my name on a gift, but I want recipients to know that it comes to them through the work of the Spirit, through individuals who love God and His creation and give back to Him through them, not through mandatory taxes and wasteful beaurocracy(sp?).

  13. Louise says:

Unfortunately, most people are focusing on which party will successfully run the county and which candidate will live in the White House. Unfortunately many Americans who are fortunate not to have to worry about health care, finances, job security, medical care, and living the so call American dream fail to be compassionate toward those wh are hard working and struggling to make ends meet. Many churchgoers feel going to church regularly and beliving in God, and paying their tithes makes them a Christian but fail to comprehend the true meaning of Matthew 25:35-50. I am standing on my beliefs as a kingdom builder and voting for a change, therefore I am voting for Mr. Obama.

TO QUOTE A POEM ABOUT THE MILITARY “I MISSED CHRISTMAS, THEN EASTER, THE BIRTH OF MY SON BUT I KNEW I WAS DOING WHAT HAD TO BE DONE.” BEFORE ANY OF YOU QUESTION PALIN’S LACK OF EXPERIENCE ASK YOURSELF HOW QUALIFIED YOU ARE. BESIDES PALIN’S SON IS LEAVEING SOON FOR IRAQ SHE IS SENDING HER BABY 3000 MILES FROM HOME TO FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY AND THEN COME ELECTION DAY MOST OF YOU WON’T EVEN CROSS THE STREET TO VOTE BECAUSE IT’S RAINING OR SOME CRAP LIKE THAT.

A position that was recently vacated by micky mouse as he is running for the U.S Senate this fall.

  17. Working Mother of 2 says:

Enough already. How many HR managers out there are asking a man “are you sure this promotion won’t interfere with you raising your kids?” Who are we to make the decision on the job she takes and the way she raises her kids? I am 36 yr old mother of 2 with a substantial income on my own. I couldn’t do any of it without a partner of a husband. I don’t have a nanny and my young kids get tucked in by one of their parents everynight. My kids get more attention from us than most of their friends get from their parents who don’t work outside the home. I don’t know too many families that haven’t had at least 1 teenage pregnancy or someone that got a DUI. It’s life, deal with it. She’s not perfect but she’s real. I’ll take that over perfect anyday. So Sarah, keep your chin up and keep on swinging at the negative comments by narrow minded people who don’t have a clue what a woman is capable of. You go girl! BTW I’m still not decided on which party will get my vote but Sarah get’s my support of one working mom to another.

  19. Steve says:

Gasp! You mean she’s a … conservative??? AHHHH, WHAT’S HAPPENING? THE REPUBLICANS ARE CONSERVATIVE! WHO KNEW?? AYYY!

Jamie, you’re wrong about her ‘lack of experience.’ She has more meaningful executive experience than Obama and Biden combined. Obama’s been in the Senate for two years and has been running for president for most of that.

  20. Jamie says:

    RAW Facts (not Opinions)

Yesterday was John McCain’s 72nd birthday. If elected, he’d be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for “inexperience,” here’s who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.
    Huh?
Who is Sarah Palin? Here’s some basic background:

She was elected Alaska’s governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1
Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
She’s doesn’t think humans are the cause of climate change.5
She’s solidly in line with John McCain’s “Big Oil first” energy policy. She’s pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won’t be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6
How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7

Dear people, if we exclude every one who is less than perfect or has failed to participate in a life outside of the political world, who do we have left to vote into office?

  23. nancie says:

No doubt Sarah is an amazing person. However…this VP choice
has me wavering in my support for McCain. What was he thinking???
Disastersville for the Republican ticket, in my humble opinion.
I will listen to her speeches & try to keep an open mind…But..

  24. Anonymous says:

Lots of first ladies hae raised a family while their husbands ran the country. What exactly disqualifies Todd Palin from raising *his* children?

  25. Jamie says:

I’m sure everyone is busy reading the latest, so I’ll make this Brief.
    Apparently there is nothing more to do in Alaska but spawn off children no matter what your age is (tooooo old / toooo young). Not to mention that I’m sure there is something legal in this whole thing about the 18 year old boy and her underage daughter (Course maybe in Alaska they have their own rules). Obviously this has no relevance to the election, but here’s what’s relevant;
How is SHE (Palin) going to find time to run a campaign, raise her newborn and her baby’s newborn? Wow, this is sounding more like a soap opera than reality. What I don’t understand is if the reps where aware of this before selecting her, why didn’t this come out last week? Maybe the idea was to spark this campaign process up a bit. Little Shock/Awe? Maybe a new spicy column in Star Magazine right next to the Britney Spears Family Bio.

  26. Anonymous says:

How is it that I, a mother, am baffled that a women with 5 young children is going to sacrifice her family to run the country? I imagine she has a great nanny to raise her children for her?

  27. Joe says:

What everyone is forgetting is that nobody has experience at being president before they are in fact “the president”. Doesn’t matter your age or years in politics. What “IS” important is to be bright, decisive and able to make an educated decision based on the information presented by those that you have surrounded yourself with. Sarah Palin has shown that she is strong, decisive and bright. She has the tools to make a fine VP and a President. I like the choice. McCain/Palin all the way

  28. Brian says:

Yes, let’s put the right humans in power. Keep in mind that the President can’t spend a dime, it’s all Congress! Congress is why you’re broke, Unions are why your cars, groceries, flights, and life are all so expensive. Get Dems out of Congress REGARDLESS of the president, and you’ll see change.

  29. Jamie says:

ill country? Remember 8 years ago, when the Great USA was under the Dem’s Control. Life here in the states couldn’t of been better. Even us middle class had some extra money to put away for retirement and some left to buy an occasional toy. Now it’s Eight years later and everyone is struggling under the Bush (Reps) administration. I am very happy that Palin inspires people and gives them the warm and fuzzy’s but, we need leaders that have a spine and want to get things changed in the right direction. Yes Change!! Call me Crazy, but usually when things are not so good, things must change to make things better. Without change we are headed of another 8 years of the SOS. No Thanks!!

Believe me, I had my reservations with Obama and his lack of experience, but this was addressed by him in many of his speeches and introducing big JOE into the picture. This show’s me that our future president understands that he may have to put his ego aside and surround himself with the right people to get the JOB DONE, Even if he’s not the “Best of Buds” with his running mate.

The Reps “Egotistical Oil Pushers with BOKOO Bucks need to stay out of control and let the Dems-Scrappers get this country back on track. Lastly, for people that relate his name with terrorism, I can’t believe you have the brain-power to even turn on a computer and read this. Yes, God Bless America, But Please help us out by putting the right humans in power. Everyone, have a safe and Happy Labor Day!

Sarah Palin is not the typical 45 yr. old working woman! The average 45 yr. old woman with four children would NOT CHOOSE to have a baby at this age. Everybody knows the risk of a downs syndrome baby is very great at this age, and being pro life should have been a deterrent.

A friend of mine alsmot 70 yrs. old has a down syndrome sister, and his 90 yr. old father before he passed away made him promise he would always care for her. Now in the twilight of his life he is unable to travel, and is tied down with little sister who only grunts and needs constant care. Life can be very unfair!

Great choice. McCain has enough foreign policy experience to ensure that his circle of advisors (and Sarah’s) are up to the task, should he become “unavailable” due to illness, death, or forgetting where the Oval Office is. Frankly, I’d rather have an inexperienced VP such as Sarah, who will be mentored by McCain than an inexperienced President who will be overshadowed by his “old school” (change, what?) VP.

    Go Sarah!

  37. Roy Stenstrom says:

Clueless? Or Another Road To Nowhere?
A month previously, Palin had said:
“As for that V.P. talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?” Palin offhandely asked CNBC Anchor Larry Kudlow in July.
After she was announced as McCain’s presumptive running mate, she stated that she does not believe that climate change is man-made. Yuppers, Palin knows the energy crisis well, even if her claim on “Charlie Rose” that Alaska’s untapped resources can significantly ease it is unsupported by the facts.
Palin initially expressed support for the Gravina Island Bridge project, commonly known outside the state as the “Bridge to Nowhere.” However, once it had become a nationwide symbol of wasteful earmark spending and federal funding was lost, Palin decided against filling the $320 million gap with state money.
I can’t wait for the debates!
