Apparently Ridley Scott is going to direct Russell Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a revisionist Robin Hood film that portrays the sheriff as a noble good guy and Robin Hood as the common thief. It’s about time. The Robin Hood legend of noble thieves who ‘rob the rich to feed the poor’ is crap. I can’t think of a better way to illustrate the liberal welfare state than Robin Hood. The message is simple: you don’t have to work for a living because someone else will feed you. And better yet, he’ll stiff those evil wealthy capitalists to boot.
