We’re Killing the Planet (Yawn)
The previous post generated some interesting comment and really opened my eyes to the utter despair and self-loathing of the left in our society. You would have thought that with their recent electoral victories that they would be ecstatic in their newly-gained power, but it was not to be. They have discovered that (gasp) the planet is being killed. Unfortunately there appear to be a number of culprits, including: organized sports, air travel, your lunch, acronyms, bottled water, and of course, capitalism is killing the planet.
The thing that saddens me is the utter despair and lack of hope. From a Christian perspective it makes sense. If you have no hope of an eternal life, than this grubby planet is all we have and we’re just dirty monkeys, scrabbling in the muck. We are given a spirit of hope, not despair, though. God says in Jeremiah that:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. (Jer 29:11-14a, NIV)
Where is your hope? In political movements? The environment? Your own best efforts?
That’s not gonna get it done, bubba. Try starting in the Book of Romans. Or leave me a note in the comments and I will help you walk through it. There is hope, believe it or not.

Leftists remind me of the scene in Monty Pythons The Holy Grail—the monks who are marching along and whopping themselves on the head. The most disgusting of them are white liberals who feel the need to take on the pain from everyone and everything on the face of the planet. They all have some kind of messiah complex.
The problem with the guy you link to is that he cuts down Christianity but totally misrepresents it and has no understanding whatsoever of what the Bible says. He talks about our religion being worthless because we’re not solving all the worlds problems and creating some Shangri La here on earth; when in fact we believe that the earth and it’s inhabitants are continually sinking into the pits, but it’s individual lives that are being transformed on a daily basis and that we can live our lives free of and above the morass of filth and degradation that this world has to offer.

I read a recent article in the Washington Post concerning Gorebal Whinning, and all they did was parrot what the greenies had to say. I sent them a nice long list of references that shows evidence of things like variability in solar output as shown by sunspot variability, precession of the earth’s axis, etc. While I’ll admit that perhaps it takes over a week to write a printable story, I have as yet seen nothing that even admits that there are other possibilities. These guys seem to function on a doom and gloom blind faith.
